I love manatees. I found this comic today because of an ad, I think on Bear and Kitten. I wish Herman weren’t so sad, but he’s also trusting and optimistic, which are very good manatee traits. Maybe someday he’ll find a quiet cove, at least for a short vacation.
I am at once horrified and fascinated. I keep clicking “previous.” I can’t stop. I live in Florida near the river so I’ve seen this kind of thing before - though never so comically.
By any chance did Herman the Manatee take inspiration from Gregarious the Manatee of EcoQuest (” I keep gettin’ hit by the same dumb speedboat every time I go up to the surface to breathe.”)?

So sad but so true. Take it from Herman, kids: stay away from those bubbles.

No! I’ve never played EcoQuest. But it seems to me you can’t have a story about manatees without including boat collisions.
